Inspiring a future of work for the next generation.+

We have a huge part to play in that next generation working in a world that is inclusive of everyone and truly cares for their communities, people and planet.

In 2016, our Founder and CEO Pat Lynes decided to name the company after his two sons; Sullivan and Stanley. Because of that foundation from day one, purpose over profit has always been at the heart of S&S.

That’s why we are proud to partner with and support organisations and charities with shared values that take their environmental, diversity, inclusion and corporate social responsibilities as seriously as we do.

Not only that, Business for Good is one of our five strategic pillars, ensuring that is always front of mind across the organisation.

Good for our planet

The un sustainable Development goals (Sdg’s)

We want to inspire the future of work for the next generation. To do that, we need to take care of our environment with all of the 17 UN SDG’s front of mind.

  • We love running events at S&S. And when we do, we make sure to always offer organic and plant-based food and beverage options, along with eco-friendly catering.
  • And if we’re feeling generous and want to give someone a gift, we use Social Supermarket to support brands that are positively impacting the world.

Good for our community

We are proud to partner with three amazing organisations where we can help make a tangible impact nationally and locally.

1

Access Sport is a community organisation whose mission is to level the playing field where everyone can participate in a sport of physical activity regardless of ability or background.

S&S was proud to be the Corporate Match Partner during the ‘Tri-with-Access Sport’ summer campaign in 2021, helping the UK improve their physical and mental health and wellbeing.

We have also provided social media strategic support to Access Sport as they endeavour to further spread their message and increase the programmes offered across the UK.

2

Centrepoint provides homeless young people with accommodation, health support and life skills in order to get them back into education, training and employment. They are the UK’s leading homelessness charity for youth.

S&S supports Centrepoint by fundraising in conjunction with some of our events (especially during Christmas), encouraging our associate community to donate.

3

Amos Bursary is a scholarship programme for people of African and Caribbean heritage. Their aim is to help scholars reach their highest potential in a world that often presents barriers to young people of colour.S&S supports the bursary by sponsoring one scholar place in a 5-year programme. This is an investment in the future of work and to the community in which S&S works and lives.

Good for our people

We spent the first half of 2021 working towards becoming a certified Great Place to Work and are thrilled to have achieved our accreditation in September 2021 where we scored an incredible 96%.

Leadership everywhere

We believe leadership is marked by behaviour rather than position and something that everyone regardless of seniority or tenure can demonstrate. We aspire to be Servant Leaders and have adopted many of its principles and practices.

Learning as A habit

We are strong believers of continuous improvement and that learning should be a part of everyday life.

We have a library in our office with a bank of inspiring books, everyone has access to the LinkedIn Learning platform and other on-demand learning tracks. We know that habit-forming takes time so we pop a protected learning slot in everyone’s diaries each month.

Our uncapped learning fund encourages our team to take responsibility for their own learning. So whether folks want to attend external training, fund coaching, attend events/conferences or have a specific professional development goal, we allow space, time and budget for that.

Diversity

Companies that harness diversity simply outperform those that don’t. We talk about being ‘our best selves’ and all new team members complete a Gallup strengths assessment before they join and discuss the results with a Strengths coach. The first step to leveraging diversity is to be our best true selves and be able to express that and be accepted in a positive, inclusive way.

We acknowledge that Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI) are fundamentally based on individual experiences from minority groups rather than a checklist to tick off. However, we believe some actions can be done to reduce unconscious bias and make everyone feel trusted
and welcomed regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or disability.

Conclusion

Our company mission is to inspire a future of work for the next generation.

So we have a huge part to play in that next generation working in a world inclusive of everyone that truly cares for their communities and their planet.

To us, this is what being a true ‘Business for Good’ is all about.
